Dr. Lopez-Hoffman on recovering monarch populations in UANews

Dr. Laura Lopez-Hoffman is the co-author of a recent study on monarch butterfly recovery, which has been featured in UANews. According to the study which examined different types of land which could be used as monarch habitats, the populations of monarch butterflies could reach a sustainable level if half of the marginal agricultural land in the Midwest was made monarch-friendly. Another approach could combine the use of agricultural lands with non-agricultural lands to provide the 1.6 billion milkweed stems that are necessary to help the population of the species make a full recovery.
