Don Falk on AZPM: "Looking Back on Fire Season in Arizona, and Places Touched by the Flames"

Sept. 10, 2017

Dr. Don Falk was interviewed for AZ Public Media's article, "Looking Back on Fire Season in Arizona, and Places Touched by the Flames." Over 400,000 acres were burned this year in Arizona, however, according to Dr. Falk, it could have been worse. The hot, dry conditions including record temperatures in June are a major contribution to how fires are started. In addition, Dr. Falk explained how fuels like grasses accumulate on the ground, causing fires to have the potential to be even more powerful.
