Dave Breshears and Henry Adams research on tree die-off in New York Times

SNRE's Dr. Dave Breshears and Dr. Henry Adams recently co-authored a paper showing the potentially devastating effects of rising global temperatures on forest die-offs. Their study examined the effects of multiple rising temperatures in order to understand with more accuracy the impact that global warming could have, including wiping out entire forests of ponderosa pines and pinyons. Even giant sequoias could be vulnerable to drought conditions which are exacerbated by global warming.
On a hopeful note, the study also means that reductions in carbon dioxide levels should translate to reduced tree die-off.
