Dr. David Breshears named Regents' Professor

April 16, 2018

Dr. David Breshears is one of five University of Arizona professors to be given the distinction of being named a Regents' Professor. Less than 3% of tenured and tenure-track faculty can achieve the title, which reflects the professors' contributions to research, teaching, scholarship, and other achievements. Dr. Breshears received the honor for his expertise on tree mortality and the threat it poses to ecosystems, as well as his leadership in national organizations and his interdisciplinary work with projects like the the UA's Critical Zone Observatory. According to UANews, Dr. Breshears "is one of the world's foremost authorities on understanding the root cause of tree deaths and has detailed the degree to which loss of trees is due to a lack of sufficient water and exacerbated by the rise in temperatures."
