Dr. Bogan co-authors paper in Nature Geoscience on intermittent rivers

May 22, 2018

Dr. Michael Bogan of SNRE is the co-author of "Intermittent rivers affect global CO2 emissions," published in Nature Geoscience. The paper is a result of a study involving 94 international partners and is the "first global study of the contribution that intermittent rivers make to carbon cycling." The analysis found that the "plant litter deposited along the dry beds of 212 rivers distributed across the globe showed high levels of O2 consumption and CO2 emissions upon short-term simulated rewetting events."

The paper can be read in Nature Geoscience.
