Dr. Breshears Inducted as Regent's Professor

Dr. David Breshears was given the distinction of being inducted as a Regents' Professor in this year's 21st Annual Regents? Professors, University Distinguished and Distinguished Outreach Faculty Induction Ceremony. Dr. Breshears was one of only five faculty inducted as a Regents' Professor during the ceremony on January 16, 2019.
This prestigious honor is bestowed on less than 3% of tenured and tenure-track faculty. The distinction reflects the professor's contributions to research, teaching, scholarship, and other achievements. Dr. Breshears received the honor for his expertise on tree mortality and the threat it poses to ecosystems, as well as his leadership in national organizations and his interdisciplinary work with projects like the the UA's Critical Zone Observatory. According to UANews, Dr. Breshears "is one of the world's foremost authorities on understanding the root cause of tree deaths and has detailed the degree to which loss of trees is due to a lack of sufficient water and exacerbated by the rise in temperatures."
