Announcing the Fran Colwell Scholarship for Undergrad and Graduate Students

Thanks to the generous donation of Mr. Fran Colwell and Sandy Koizumi we can award both an undergraduate and graduate fellowship for students focused on the human and social dimensions of natural resource management. Criteria for these awards are:

 

Undergraduate Award - $4,000

  • Full-time Undergraduate in their junior or senior year.
  • GPA: 3.0 or better.
  • Base Criteria: A combination of academic merit and financial need.
  • Open to an undergraduate student in any program but preference may be given to students in the Global Change Ecology and Management option.
  • Expanded Criteria: A student who has demonstrated an active interest in a career in public land management with a focus on human and social dimensions of natural resource management.
  • Scholarship is renewable.

 

Graduate Award - $2,000

  • Full-time graduate student either MS or Ph.D. in SNRE or WSP.
  • GPA: 3.0 or better.
  • Base Criteria: A combination of academic merit and financial need.
  • Open to any SNRE graduate student.
  • Expanded Criteria: A student who has demonstrated an active interest in a career in public land management with a focus on human and social dimensions of natural resource management.
  • Scholarship is renewable.

 

Applications should include a faculty recommendation letter along with a 250 word application statement by the student describing their career goals and their interest in the human and social dimensions of natural resource management.

 

Current due date is April 5, 2019 and the packet or packets (if nominating both an undergraduate and graduate student) should be submitted to the Director or Associate Director.
